List of most common phrases

What are the most commonly used phrases in a language? It would be interesting to compile a list of top ten, twenty, fifty etc phrases of each language. After compiling a list of phrases have people vote to find the top ten, twenty etc phrases. From my personal experience the most commonly used phrase in Mandarin Chinese may have to be “How much is it?” Of course we have to specify in what situation this applies to so perhaps “How much is it?” applies to common everyday language. We learn most easily by themes/categories that can be personalized to ourselves. Therefore, I believe that the best way to begin and continue to advance in learning a second language is to start a hobby. Find something that really interests you if it does not interest you will not want to continue to study; therefore, it is absolutely necessary to find something you really love doing then you will be able to not only begin learning a language but to advance much more easily.
