Japanese Grammar を

The を in Japanese has three uses: 1.  to indicate the direct object, 2. indicate place or time, and 3. indicate a starting point.
In these examples we repeat the verb and ask what?
1. 家を買う (何を買う。家) — Buy what? house. house = direct object

2. 文章を書く
3. 足を洗う (動詞の対象を示す)
4. 猫を飼う  (動詞の対象を示す)

橋を渡る(どこを渡る。橋)   —- Place.
旅をする (場所) —- Place.
一日を過ごす  —–Time.
町を出る — leaving a starting point.
家を出る
