One thing I find quite annoying is how many Chinese men like to grow at least one finger nail longer than the rest. Although I am not sure why this is but I thought I would write a bit on this strange but interesting habit. I believe the reason is while most of Chinese people were primarily farmers it seems that people who grow their finger nails long are those who like to believe that they have moved up away from the farmer life to the city life. Seems like a clear example of Chinese moving away from farming to the office worker type of jobs. Although many will say they respect farmers in theory but in reality ask them how they feel if their son or daughter became a farmer they would probably not be happy. It seems like a trend worldwide to move away from farming to city office work. Reason simply they feel that farmers are associated with being poor, while the cities are associated with wealth. In my opinion its a sign that people do not like getting their hands dirty. It may be the time for farmers to ride up and refuse to sell their products to the city and let them city people starve.
