I have noticed recently how much people are selling their pottery, weaving, paper, and other art work for. Far too expensive. Who are they expecting to sell too. Especially in these poor economic times. Why are they pricing so high? I believe they are wrong. Art should be for the people, accessible to everyone and not only the rich. Think about it, a hundred — a thousand years ago people turned out fantastic pieces and guess what — peoples wealth was far less than it is today. So why is it that people say ‘oh I have no money to buy art’, ‘I’m too poor to buy art’. I think present day society has gone too far by placing an aesthetic value on art. The arts in the past has always been for the people and there is no reason to believe that the arts cannot be for everyone today.
