The changes of rural China

I am republishing this because I will be going back to this area in May and it will be interesting to make note of these changes in relation to the changes two years ago.

I went for a 4 hour walk down to where I used to live 3 years ago (in Yulin, Guangxi Autonomous Region) I couldn’t recognize anything. All the roads were resurfaced and widened trees cut small stores have become larger department stores etc etc. The whole front side of the place I lived changed. I had to walk back and forth a few time on the opposite side of the street to find the entrance way. The door was open and the construction that was there was no longer there. All I

could recognize was the stair case inside the door way it seems that what was just a storage area is now a private school. I noticed that 3 years ago the electric scooter was being introduced to the cities but wasn’t here now they are quite common also registration is not required for electric scooters but required for gasoline ones. Encouraging alternatives should do better for the air. At least it smells better around here more trash cans and less garbage in the streets.
