Lesson learned – Unemployment Insurance

Today I learned a very valuable lesson. Employers and companies will always try to tell you that you cannot apply for unemployment insurance. This is nothing but ignorance and must be eliminated. If the law requires employers to withhold unemployment dues then you have to demand your rights to apply for it when you become unemployed. Somehow I have a feeling society in general looks down at people who are on unemployment insurance. When I walked into the local Hello Work – employment office here I thought the staff were very friendly and helpful to get me signed up. The first interview had almost no wait then it came to the explanation on benefits the line up was long but was made interesting when a former acquaintance from a previous job came over and had a chat. She too was applying for benefits as well as the many others. I never really had the experience of having no job before because I am always doing something either making pots, designing websites, filming, or blogging. They all are a form of  work – this is important just having something to do rather than doing nothing and complaining. I consider myself under employed and not unemployed.
