The slogan across from the basketball and tennis courts reads: “Exercise the body, render service one’s motherland”. I am thinking of this in respect to seeing the huge basketball and tennis courts and ping pong tables under the mango trees. I have not yet seen a school that encourages traditional arts/crafts and sports. While they do emphasize ping pong here but no matter where you go they all emphasize the importance of western sports like basketball, tennis etc. What ever happened to traditional Chinese music, painting, minority languages? They are destroying entire generations by not encouraging the traditional crafts. Soon the older generation will be all dead and who will be left to carry on the ancient traditions?
