I just launched a new Japanese lesson last week but haven’t had the chance to promote it as of yet. I used these Japanese lessons in some of my classes while I was teaching at Yulin Normal University in Guangxi, China. All off the lessons were up until now, on my web hosting server under a password protected directory. I always wanted to do something with them but never got around to doing anything until last month when I put all the lessons online and set up a mailing list so that students could get one lesson a week for 17 weeks. At least I could say the lessons are getting used rather than just “collecting dust”, if data collects “dust” in a server, I don’t know.
These online lessons are intended for people who have never studied Japanese or people who might like to have a refresher because they would like to study it as a hobby. Lesson 0 and 1 starts off with learning hiragana and some fun online games in lesson 1 are offered before the lessons pick up to speed in lesson 2.
From lesson 2 – 17 each lesson is composed of:
1. Dialogue
2. Vocabulary
3. Grammar notes
I’ve even included some simple homework exercises in a few of the lessons. Basically, a motivated person can go through the lessons and pick and choose what he/she likes and get a lot out of it. I think that it is unreasonable to say that you will become fluent in Japanese by the end of the lessons but if you do follow each of the lessons you will at least get a lot of practice with hiragana.
However, I have also included mp3 audio from lesson 2 – 17 for sale as well as personalized tutoring for those that choose. The last lesson has a special bonus offer as a way of saying thank you for subscribing to the lessons. To sign up click the “Free Online Japanese Lessons” in the sidebar to the right or click here.
This is is the first time I am running this course, so your comments will be most appreciated. Please comment below each of the lessons and of course if you liked the lessons…. please retweet, stumble, facebook or forward the emails to a friend. Thank you!
